Why Diabetic Foot Assessment Is Important

Diabetic foot problems can happen over time if high blood glucose (blood sugar) damages the nerves and blood vessels in the feet. Nerve damage from diabetes is called diabetic neuropathy, and it can make feet feel numb or tingly.

Diagnostic Tests

Vascular (Blood Vessel) Exam

Feel the pulses in patients’ feet and ankle
Compare blood pressure measurements in ankles and arms
If blood pressure in the ankle is lower than the arm, patients may have reduced blood flow (Ankle-Brachial Index).
Our Dopplers can do ABI testing if patients have signs and symptoms of a blood flow problem.

VPT and HCP Tests
